city with a massive turnout of members from various chapels, correspondents, and the federated chapel. The event commenced smoothly under the guidance of the State Council Secretary, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, who served as the Master of Ceremonies and directed the day's proceedings

​Delivering a succinct address, the Ogun State Council Chairman, Comrade Akinwale Olanrewaju, commended members of the press for their dedication to the noble profession and their exemplary representation across all sectors

He praised the Ogun-West Independent Chapel for conducting a peaceful, rancor-free election, urging other chapels to emulate their harmonious spirit

​Comrade Olanrewaju charged the newly sworn-in executives to foster unity and work collaboratively to elevate their chapel beyond expectations while safeguarding the reputation of the State Council

2027: Gbenga Hashim, Makinde Align on National Unity Govt ... Urge End to APC Rule

Presidential candidates of the Accord Party and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Dr. Gbenga Hashim and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, have agreed on the need to form a Government of National Unity after defeating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Hashim disclosed this, yesterday. after meeting with Makinde, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

He said the two leaders agreed that Nigeria needs a peaceful political transition followed by a broad based government focused on rebuilding the country and restoring national unity.

“We are working hard to defeat the government of misery and hardship that the government has become,” Hashim posted on his verified Facebook page.

He said the agreement was not merely about defeating the ruling party at the polls but about ensuring that the political transition produces a stable and united Nigeria.

“We both agreed on unity, not just to achieve peaceful change, but a stable and united Nigeria through the formation of a post election Government of National Unity.”

Hashim said a post-APC Nigeria would require the participation of competent and patriotic Nigerians from across political parties and backgrounds.

“A post-APC led Nigeria requires the participation of the best of the most patriotic hands to bring our nation together after twelve years of the most virulent division in our history.”

The Accord Party candidate said Nigeria's challenges require a national response and that the country cannot afford a narrow, winner takes all approach to governance after the election.

He said the meeting with Makinde represents the continuation of broader consultations among political leaders committed to peaceful political change, stability and national reconciliation.

Hashim said political differences should not prevent cooperation among leaders after the election where such cooperation is necessary to stabilise and rebuild the country.

He dissclosed that there were prior consultations with other presidential candidates on the subject of formation of a Post-Tinubu Government of National Unity and the idea is gaining traction.

Hashim said the proposed Government of National Unity would focus on restoring national cohesion, rebuilding public confidence, strengthening institutions and mobilising competent Nigerians to address the country's economic and security challenges.

He also added that, “Nigeria belongs to all of us. After the election, we must put Nigeria first.”

“Why My Father Kept My Hausa Roots a Secret for Nearly 30 Years” ~Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim breaks silence

 

Presidential candidate of the Accord Party, Dr. Gbenga Hashim, has revealed the extraordinary family secret behind why his Hausa and royal identity remained concealed from him for almost three decades.

Hashim, grandson of the 40th Serki of Yauri, said his late father, Alhaji Hashim Abdullahi Yauri, deliberately kept his royal heritage away from him as a child after receiving a warning from an Islamic cleric about possible dangers within the royal family.

According to him, the cleric advised his father against exposing the child’s identity prematurely, prompting him to take what was ultimately a life changing decision, to protect his son by keeping his identity secret.

“He chose protection over inheritance,” Hashim said.

As a result, Hashim was relocated and raised in the Borgu Emirate under a different identity.

Although he was named Abdulmalik at birth, he grew up within a Yoruba cultural environment, largely removed from the Hausa traditions, royal connections and family history of his paternal lineage.

For almost 27 years, he said, he lived without knowing the full circumstances surrounding his identity.

The extraordinary story is detailed in Chapter 13 of his forthcoming autobiography, Sunrise At Midnight, scheduled for publication soon .

The chapter provides an account of his childhood, his father's decision and the eventual discovery of the heritage that had been deliberately kept from him.

Hashim has previously spoken publicly about his unusual childhood. In an interview with THISDAY, he disclosed that he was born in Yelwa, Yauri, in 1969, while his father was a young police officer. He subsequently grew up with the family of his stepfather, Julius Bamidele Olawepo.

Hashim also paid tribute to his late father, whom he described as a highly influential police officer who rose to become a Police Commissioner and Commandant of the Police College, Kaduna.

Popularly known as “Zaki” the Lion, Alhaji Hashim Abdullahi Yauri was widely respected across Northern Nigeria.

Hashim said the nickname reflected his father's courage, discipline, strength and commanding personality.

Hashim and his siblings recently marked the 30th anniversary of their father's passing with commemorative advertisements in major Nigerian newspapers.

For Hashim, the story of his father is inseparable from the story of his own identity.

The father who kept his royal lineage secret was also a man who, in Hashim's account, carried a formidable reputation in public service.

Hashim's account also takes him further back into the history of his paternal family, to his grandfather, Serki Abdullahi Jibril, popularly known as Maiy Yauri.

He described his grandfather as one of the prominent traditional rulers of Northern Nigeria in his era and part of a generation of educated Northern royals who combined traditional authority with modern education, administration and commerce.

According to Hashim, Seriki Jibril, the 40th ruler  of Yauri was particularly distinguished by his knowledge of finance and trade, financial prudence, transparency and commitment to education.

He described him as a prominent royal of Hausa ancestry who was honoured with the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) during the colonial period.

Hashim further recalled that British records portrayed his grandfather as an unusually independent traditional ruler who, during the Second World War, exercised a degree of administrative autonomy that distinguished him from many of his contemporaries.

But for Hashim, the story is ultimately bigger than royalty.

It is the story of a father who chose secrecy as an act of protection; a child who grew up between cultures without knowing the full story of his origins; and a family history that eventually returned to him decades later.

“For 27 years, I lived without knowing the full story of who I was,” Hashim said.

He said discovering his Hausa and Yauri heritage did not diminish the Yoruba cultural environment in which he was raised. Rather, it gave him a deeper understanding of the different cultural and historical strands that shaped his identity.

His story, he said, is ultimately about family, sacrifice, identity, heritage and the strange ways in which history can remain hidden for decades before finding its way back into a person's life.

GlobaCom In Hot Water Over Alleged Threats To Missing Employee’s Family ~Vibrant Nifemi

 

Mr. Adetona Olaoluwa is a dedicated Globacom employee who served the company extensively across multiple states. Reports indicate he worked as a Rollout Manager for Globacom Telecommunications.

According to family sources, Mr. Olaoluwa was posted to Owerri, Imo State, to execute a project for Globacom alongside an Indian and an Ivorian colleague

Mr. Olaoluwa, whose duties involved site acquisition for Globacom, was no stranger to assignments in the Eastern region. However, on the day in question, he was sent to Umuaka village in Orlu Local Government Area alongside two foreign team members

When Mr. Olaoluwa’s wife tried reaching him, her initial calls went straight through to an unreachable line. A subsequent call was answered by an unknown voice who insulted her without issuing a ransom demand. Confused, she contacted his office only to be told her husband had been kidnapped while his two colleagues narrowly escaped

According to his wife, Globacom urged her to keep the incident quiet, promising to lead efforts to secure his release. She further claims the company later informed her that a N2 million ransom had been paid, yet her husband was never freed

According to the family, Globacom urged the wife to falsely claim her husband worked as a driver instead of a Rollout Manager. They allege the company provided no reason for this request

As weeks passed, the matter reached the Imo State Police Command. Despite multiple meetings and assurances from the Commissioner of Police that efforts were ongoing, the wife grew increasingly skeptical of their explanations ultimately threatening to go to the media to demand action

Following her warning to go public, the family claims the wife was targeted with threatening calls from hidden numbers. They allege that anyone who tried to step in and champion the missing staffer's cause received similar intimidation from unidentified callers

The wife subsequently sought the assistance of broadcaster Oriyomi Hamzat to publicize her husband's disappearance. According to her, Hamzat held a closed-door meeting with Globacom management without including her, after which he asked what compensation or resolution she wanted from the telecom giant

I will not go further into Oriyomi Hamzat’s involvement in this matter for now, When these efforts failed to yield results, Mr. Olaoluwa’s wife escalated the matter to the Inspector-General of Police. However, family members allege that despite official acknowledgment of the petition, no meaningful investigation followed, and they remained subject to ongoing threats warning them to keep quiet

According to the family, many early supporters of the case gradually pulled back over time. Seeking legal backing, they retained the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Oladapo to handle the matter. When interviewed, SAN Oladapo confirmed that multiple petitions were dispatched to Globacom, though the company failed to respond and explanation that ultimately left the family dissatisfied

Family sources confirm that two petitions were dispatched to Globacom and another to the Inspector-General of Police. While all three documents were formally acknowledged, no concrete action followed. Mr. Adetona Olaoluwa has been missing since last year

Approximately five months ago, Globacom representatives reportedly visited his wife to request her bank details, after which regular salary payments for Mr. Olaoluwa began arriving in her account. However, his wife maintained that she does not want financial compensation, demanding instead that her husband be found and safely returned

The family maintains that earlier supporters abandoned the cause after being compromised or intimidated. Consequently, they have brought the matter to the VNV (Vibrant Nifemi Vibrant) platform, trusting its commitment to uncover the truth regardless of threats

A year after Mr. Adetona Olaoluwa vanished, official answers remain nonexistent. His family alleges a pattern of intimidation and compromise: advocates trying to help were met with anonymous threats, while others walked away from the case immediately after meeting with Globacom

The family is appealing to the general public and human rights advocates to shine a spotlight on this case, urging Globacom and relevant security agencies to account for Mr. Adetona Olaoluwa’s disappearance

Despite alleged efforts to silence key parties and keep this story out of the press, we stand firm. We respectfully demand that Globacom Chairman Chief Mike Adenuga, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigeria Police Force, and the DSS order a thorough, uncompromised investigation into the ongoing disappearance of Mr. Adetona Olaoluwa.
