FOLA DANIEL, no
doubt is one of the titans in the Nigeria Insurance companies. Born into the family of Alowolodu bi Iyere
ekefa kojo, in Ekiti Local Government of Kwara State, Mr Fola Daniel is not
only popular on the social scenes but he’s a man of credibility. Having added
sincerity and humility to his antecedents, this man of potentials is a strong
tower within his obit. Among those who have contributed their quotas earnestly
to the uplift the society both in Nigeria and in diaspora, is Mr. Fola Daniel.
Known to be one of Nigeria’s foremost insurance
celebrity, It is a thing of joy to highlight on the profile of this highly
intelligent living legend. His work-life and experience for over 37 years at
various managerial levels are inspiring. Looking back to his success story,
this amiable young man has recorded 13 years of work life as Managing Director
of two frontline insurance Institution. Having considered his pedigree, it
won’t be a surprise to find his name and achievements published in the Guinness
world book of record.
The eight years he spent as Commissioner for
insurance/Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria’s apex insurance regulatory
authority and National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) were very delightful and
effectively stimulating for the industry. This makes him outstanding as the
commission witnessed a phenomenal change in fortune under him. To the Kwarans,
even down to his home town (ERUKU), every body’s joy with this amiable man of
excellence is that, while on the saddle at NAICOM, he never joined the race to
make money by all means as it has become a trend in the society. Adding to his good will and credibility which
an average Kwarans still refers to till date, is that while he was still in the
service, it was recorded that no youth or graduate who seek job employment
through him went back empty without getting his attention and a positive
response, and this has been speaking for him even as a fellow of the Chartered
Insurance Institute, London and the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria as
well as the British Institute of management.
Fola Daniel’s life of perceptive in the insurance industry
is deep. It was recorded that in the year 1986, he was branch Manager and later
Northern Area Manager of Great Nigeria Insurance CO. Ltd. He later joined Globe
Reinsurance Plc as Underwriting Manager and rose to the position of Assistant
General Manager (Technical). Still enjoying God’s grace and lifting, he was later
appointed by the Federal Government as Executive Director (Operations) of
Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC). To his good credibility in
1994, he was elevated to the position of Managing Director/CEO of the Corporation.
He was said to have returned to Globe Reinsurance plc as Managing Director/ CEO
in 2004 and he was at his duty post until 2007 when a great offer stumble on
him as he was appointed by the Federal Government of Nigeria as Commissioner
for Insurance. Distinguished Nigerians to the glory of God, Fola Daniel
voluntarily retired from NAICOM in August 2015 after he has successfully serve
two terms of four years each as Nigeria Commissioner for Insurance without a
scandal, allegation or blemish from Economic & Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC).
