Ogbeni & Omisore |
Senator Iyiola Omisore, a governorship aspirant under the banner of Social Democratic Party SDP has said that the people of Osun State would soon start to enjoy the benefits of democracy
Senator Omisore said this in his message to the people of the state on the celebration of this year's Democracy Day.
In a statement made available by Idowu Afolami, the former deputy governor and two term senator felicitated with the masses of the state for God's preservation of their lives to witness this year's Democracy Day celebration.
He stated that other than the declaration of public holiday by the present administration in the state, there's little or nothing on the ground to justify the celebration.
"Is it the forlorn look on the face of almost everyone on the street that one can point to as the dividends of democracy or the undeserved agonies the workers of the state are going through".
He pointed out that since the inception of the administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola which is characterised by deceits and wickedness, Osun people had stopped enjoying the dividends of democracy.
He recalled that ACN which was one of the political parties that transformed into APC happened to be most vociferous critics of 29 May as a democracy day while still in opposition, wondering what has changed now.

He described the regime of Aregbesola which rode to power on the false promise of immortalising MKO Abiola as an hypocritical one stressing that while in power at the centre, his administration no longer sees anything wrong with 29 May as Democracy Day.
" While in opposition the then ACN was one of the ardent critics of 29 May date arguing that June 12 should have been the date set aside by the Federal Government as Democracy Day, ironically on assumption of power at the centre June 12 seems to have been relegated to the background, while 29 May is being celebrated with fanfare, this confirms their use and dump tactics"

He implored the good people of OSUN State to vote wisely in the 22 September election in the state and pray for the return of the old good days.
"All hands must be on the deck to salvage the state from those syphoning our common wealth to Lagos by electing a competent person to manage the affairs of the state and return the good old days when workers salaries and other emoluments were paid as at when due and schools were doing well. " The abysmal level of education and other sectors in the state is worrisome and pathetic"
