Senator Iyiola Omisore has emerged the flagbearer of the social democratic party, SDP in the forthcoming Governorship election in osun state.
According to the result announced by professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali led committee, Omisore polled 123,485 votes to defeat his rivals, Yemisi Oladeji and Kehinde Atanda who scored 1,802 and 1,637 votes respectively.
Jubilant party faithfuls and supporters who stormed out of their houses upon the announcement of the results were seen singing the praises of the former deputy Governor in major towns of Osogbo, Ile Ife, Iwo among others to express their love for the victor who has become a common household figure in the politics of osun state.
Meanwhile, the attention of the National secretariat of the Social Democratic Party, SDP has been drawn to a fake news earlier posted in the social media erroneously suggesting that one of the aspirants in the primary election, Kehinde Atanda had emerged the winner of the election.
The said story which is far from the truth and mare handwork of the enemies of our party indicates that the election took place at the party secretariat osogbo and that the said aspirant polled 271 votes to defeat the other two aspirants Yemisi and Sen Omisore who were said to have polled 13 and 8 votes respectively.
For avoidance of doubts, all the SDP primary elections nation wide are being conducted through direct primary election where all registered members of the party are allowed to choose the party flag bearers. Therefore, the Osun state primary election couldn't have taken place in the party office.
Secoundly, the former state chairman, Chief Ademola who was reported to have conducted the election had lost his seat following his suspension and subsequent election of new Executive committee at a state congress held in osogbo on 7th July 2018.
