Ace talking drummer, Gabriel Johnson aka Gabination has paid tribute to Segalink, Ruggedman, and Dolapo Badmus over their roles in championing the #EndSars campaign.
The
trio whom he called heroes for their role in ending police brutality in
Nigeria, were celebrated during the recently-held Gabination Live &
Pop.
The
event which was also tagged ‘Celebrating #EndSARS Heroes’, was graced
by electrifying headliners and was held at Skywood Lounge, Ojodu Berger,
Lagos.
The headliners included Neophlames, Blackman, Paul Wise, Kay Trumpet, Yinka Jubal, and Dekunle Africlas.
In the course of the event, Gabination revealed the reason he took the mantle to celebrate the EndSARS heroes.
According
to him, "the likes of Segalink, Ruggedman and Dolapo Badmus have been
instrumental to youths’ inclusion in societal development and the
establishment of societal norms."
“There
was hardly a day I am going to the studio with my manager that we would
not be stopped by policemen. And it is because of nothing but the fact
that we are young. This is not supposed to be in a sane society, these
policemen would not stop you if you aren’t a youth, I mean a
good-looking one at that.”
The
renowned talking drummer stressed that police molestation and brutality
shouldn’t be coming into play, adding that every youth have a right to
live and to live well.
Speaking about Ruggedman, Segalink and Dolapo Badmus, Gabination said the Nigerian youths should idolise them.
“Our
heroes should be idolised, because they dedicated all their time and
resources to ensure we live well as individuals. And I am very grateful
to the Zone 2 PPRO, she isn’t just carrying a beautiful look, she’s also
carrying a beautiful heart.” He added.
The event was attended by youths, senior citizens and entertainers alike.
