The Executive Governor of Zamfara State;Dr Bello Matawalle has come out,to debunk stories making round,about his purported trip to Saudi Arabia, in order to seek foreign security aids,over the current banditry battle in his State.
It would be recalled that,due to the governor's efforts in combating bandits and their nefarious activities within and around the State,he was applauded by President Muhammad Buhari recently. However,it has been reported in some sections of the media that, Governor Matawalle plans a journey to Arabia,for security arrangements. In sharp contrast to reports,the governor said it is far from the truth,that his journey to United Arab Emirates was aimed at beefing up security in his State. He argue that,such reports are geared towards discrediting his administration's belief and partnership with the country's security operatives. He said,such stories are mere political propaganda;that lacks basis. In his words,the governor said," I can't believe that,with our efforts to eradicate this menace, some saboteurs would sit somewhere, to cook up malicious stories about my weeklong trip to Saudi Arabia. This is the handiwork of political pharaohs,who do not want the betterment of our dear State and the country at large. While shedding lights on the purpose of his visit to Saudi Arabia, the governor emphasised that,though the security of the state is paramount, his visit is majorly to woo investors to Zamfara State. He pointed out that,the investors need to be convinced beyond any doubt,before they could come to the country. He therefore appeals to the members of the public, to disregard any such publications or rumours,adding that,he rates Nigerian security agencies above their contemporaries in Africa and some parts of the world. He said the efforts of the Nigerian Security agencies had reduced the activities of bandits, to barest minimum in that region, promising Nigerians and foreign investors, to see Zamfara as a safe haven,for their lives,properties and or businesses.
