Group Calls For Investigation Over Allegations Of Selective Treatment And Gross Abandonment of COVID-19 Patients At Lagos Centres.

Media Centre for Safety Reporting (MCSR), a registered civil society organization made up of Certified Safety Reporters in Nigeria has called on the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu, who is also the chief incident Commander of COVID-19 and the Health Minister Dr.Osagie Ehanire, to investigate the myriad of allegations trailing COVID-19 Heath workers and care givers.
The Executive Director of the Centre, Mr. John Thompson, made this call in a chat with newsmen in Ikeja,Lagos on Monday March 30, 2020.
He cited a video of a man whose wife was allegedly abandoned by doctors and health workers for a whole day without attention at an Isolation Centre in Lagos. “The source of the video has been verified and authenticated” he said.
He told newsmen that, the video was a prove of allegations of nepotism and selective treatment meted out to ordinary Nigerians infected with the virus at various centres in Lagos.
He also pointed out the case of a man who was said to have tested positive to the virus but was allegedly asked by the health workers on duty at Yaba to go home and self- isolate.

While commending the Lagos state government on the success rate of recovery so far recorded. Thompson, a professional HSE reporter, called on both the state and Federal government to reach out to other ancillary health safety and environment professionals to augment the obvious dearth of manpower as COVID-19 positive cases keep rising geometrically in the country.
He further called on the civil society to keenly monitor the numerous donations from individuals and corporate organisations towards combating the Coronavirus pandemic.
