ABOUT THE BOOK
Like Christ and members of the Apostolic College, this book addressed the mind of the church to the problems of single parents and the children raised by such parents in the church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) in Lagos metropolis and beyond .
The family is regarded as the most basic unit of socialization and socialization of children is highly depend on it. The roles of father and mother in bringing up children are complimentary as more children than ever before are living in single parents households from the projection of the book.
It may come to a time if care is not taken fewer children may live with both father and mother in the years ahead. A situation which might unfavorable for the society at large.
This book will enlighten you more than you have ever known or read about. 'The church in the first (21st) century and single parenting".There is an adage that says 'if you want to hide something from black person, put it in a book".
Therefore, reading this book from the first chapter is not all that matters but to study it to the fullness of the last chapter makes better meaning .
This work is orginally my doctoral thesis (in affliction with Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti). The research exposed me to the various challenges associate ad with Single Parenting in the contemporary times particularly in Lagos Metropolis. In actual fact is a template of the experience of very many single parents in Nigeria and other places in Africa and beyond.
The overwhelming discoveries is also an eye opener for the church and her pastoral body to help in ameliorating the antecedent evils associated with Single Parenthood in the 21st century. This is only saying what chirst said on the need for the church and all christians to tend His sleep. The church must care for Single Parents, this will promote their overall well-being and ensure that children from such homes receive early guidance in the way of the Lord, godly discipline and self-actualization improved sense of security and self-esteem can provide an excellent anchor for children in Single Parenthood through strong support networks, friendship; and pastoral guidance, the church can reduce the consequences associated with single parenting.
