Sometimes we blame the people against the failure of some stars, but didn't bother to critically look the lifestyle of these celebs themselves.
My first encounter with Majek was in the 80s when he was billed to perform at an Easter programme that involved the Gospel songstress Evangelist Funmi Aragbaye at Adamasingba, Ibadan. Then I was an Entertainment columnist withe the rested Sketch Press Ltd.
When it was time for Majek to perform, he couldn't be found and Evangelist Aragbaye had to called me to help to talk to Majek who was "take care of himself" near one of the shops in the Adamasinbgba shopping complex.
In fact he had to be soaked with water before he could wake up to stormed the stage, and that was around 7.45pm when many people who have been waiting to see him thrilling them since 2pm have gone. Its really unfortunate that the talented guy has to end up in such a very appalling stage in life.
I felt deeply sad some years back when I saw him around Gowon Estate, Lagos, carrying guitar all over the place, - I said to myself why this Superstar was left alone to be ruined this way? It's sad. Against this backdrop, methinks his body should be brought back home, his place of birth. He shouldn't be buried in America where he totally lost everything.
May God grant him eternal rest and God give his children, fans and sympathisers fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Adieu Majek, the African super reggae crooner!
