These are major traditional rulers in southern Nigeria and beyond and yet some dare open their mouth to denigrate Benin history and even call Edo people a minority stock when history and cultural evidence show Edo is the largest ethnic group in Nigeria until it was decimated and adulterated by the sinister manipulations of the colonialist and their in-house collaborators.

“The greatest Black Race Empire ever existed in Sub Saharan Africa was the Ancient Benin Empire. An empire feared by all, till the invasion of the Great Britain in 1897. The King then was called Oba Ovonramwen, and because of his greatness and power, he was nicknamed OGBAISI (The one whose fame widely spread over the earth). King Ovonramwen N’Ogbaisi was so feared by all. He fought the last fight with the British that gave birth to the present day Nigeria in 1914. That was the same year He died in Calabar. The Benin throne must be respected by all, and I as a Yoruba man from Ile-Ife moves the motion that the Oba of Benin should be the Permanent Chairman of the Nigeria National Council of Traditional Rulers. And a national monument should be named after King Ovonramwen. Thank you all. One love”
