Osun chapter Amotekun Corps, was on friday 24th of July, 2020 apprehended a suspected robber with a sum of N1.2m and jewelry he stole from Shagamu in Ogun state.
The 36-year-old robber claimed he stole about N1.6m from his 80-year-old former landlady, who lives at local government secretariat area of Shagamu, since February, this year, but has spent part of it.
He gave his name as Mumeen Saheed, who was born in Osogbo about 36 years ago, while his late father was from Kwara state.
Mumeen confessed he had access to the old woman's room, because he was the one taking care of her and since he had stolen the money, he could not go back to continue his job.
Asking how he has been fairing since February, the suspected robber claimed he had kept the money in the bush while shuttling between Ibadan and Osogbo waiting for COVID 19 to end, so he could rent a house and settle down.
Mumeen said he decided to steal the money because of her landlady's wickedness to her children, who he claimed are suffering, despite their mother's affluence.
As at the time of filing this report, the suspect and the exhibits have been handed over to the Nigeria Police, Oja Oba Division, Osogbo, for further investigations.
Also recovered from him were assorted charms and the picture of an expatriate he claimed was brought to him by a client for prayer.
Reacting, the field commander, Amotekun Osun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, warned evil doers to always be conscious of consequence; just as he commended his men for a job well-done, pledging that the state owned security outfit would not let the people of Osun down.
