This is a lie of highest order. Ifi AYABALE TIPPER garrage, A & B young shall grow mechanic are legitimate occupiers of the mechanic village. They are with their valid documents of allocation which is duly approved by Lagos State government through the ministry of transportation. This mechanic village has nothing to do with the road at all. I visited the scene as an observer from committee for the defense of human rights (cdhr), Lagos State branch. The mechanic village is directly opposite Maroko police station. They have been in this place for more than 20 years. We have all the copies of their tax payment to Lagos State government, even they have paid all their dues to Lagos State government for this year 2021.
For your information as the Lagos State citizens have been wrongly informed and mislead. New Town Development Authority (NTDA) is dragging the authority of the mechanic village with the ministry of transportation is the truth about this matter. NTDA is claiming superiority over the ministry of transportation.
We have petitioned the Lagos State governor and Lagos State House of assembly since the 1st day of July year 2021. NTDA has previously engaged different ministry in the past under the Lagos State government especially LASBCA, because they diligently observed the allocation giving to the mechanic by the Lagos State government made them make u turn and asked them to continue their work. This is the reason why NTDA has to engage the service of the taskforce.
We were further informed by one of the officials of the NTDA that their boss has received money from one of the lekki leading car dealers for the purpose of the same piece of land.
We are appealing to those that are in authority to swiftly investigate the truth about the mechanic village. The people working at this mechanic village area more than 200 people. Can you imagine if this set of people are sack from where they are earning their daily bread, you know that more than 1 million people including women and children will be put into surferness. This is our information that New Town Development Authority (NTDA) are using Lagos State taskforce to intimidate and harrass IfI AYABALE TIPPER GARAGE, A and B YOUNG SHALL GROW mechanic at the legitimate approved mechanic village at Akiogun road off lekki-Epe expressway opposite Maroko police station. The new town development authority have threatened the mechanics with several department under the Lagos State government like LASBCA but failed woefully to remove them from the mechanic village where Lagos State government allocated for them because of the approval of Lagos State government possessed by the mechanic.
On the 26th day of July year 2021, some of the officials of New Town Development Authority came with taskforce to the mechanic village at lekki-Epe expressway, off Maroko police station and destroyed the approved SIGNBOARD of the mechanic and brutalized some of them as we were informed. The police Man that led his colleagues to destroy the SIGNBOARD and also mobilized his men to molest the tax payers was identify as Sunday Ikhayere.
Against this backdrop, it is our instruction to appeal and we are hereby appealing that you use your good office to investigate the unprofessional act of the said taskforce before they provoke the anger of the law abiding citizens.
