Few days ago to be precisely, on a fateful day of Thursday 1st of July, 2021 mammoth crowd of IFI Ayabale Tupper Garage and A&B Young Shall Grow Mechanics were viciously Seeing stormed the main entrance of Lagos State House of Assembly in Alausa with the full support of members of the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights to express the inhumane and wickedness melted on them by the Lagos state Taskforce, New Town Development Authority (NTDA) and the Lagos State Building control Agency (LASBCA) over a piece of land situate under the power line Corridor at Akiogun Road, Opposite Maroko Police Station, Off Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lekki Phase 1 in Lagos.
Alh. Saka,an elderly member of the Ifi Ayabale Tipper Garage, A & B Young Shall Grow Mechanic while speaking to a cross section of Journalists expressed himself emotionally but claimed that they got allocation to use the peace of land legally through the Lagos State Government Ministry of Transportation many years ago with a valid and all the documents of application for the allocation readily available, likewise the acceptance letter from Lagos State Government through the ministry of Transportation and payment receipts with tax documents.
Alh. Saka saying further, it was officials of the New Town Development Authority (NTDA) that first served the Mechanic/Engineers quit notice with a directive to relocate and vacate the mechanic Village.
The Mechanic/Engineers then responded by providing the documents of allocation, though we were told from a source at NTDA that their Chairman had received money from a particular Car dealer at Lekki expressway, Lekki Phase 1 with interest on the said portion of land, we then came under the threat and harassment of NTDA to vacate the Mechanic Village through Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).
LASBCA was subsequently confronted with the documents at our disposal they then resulted to threatening us with the Lagos State Task Force, reasons for our peaceful protest in collaboration with Committee for defense of human right after hearing our plight, to express our grievances by submitting a petition to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly. All we want is freedom to coexist and do our business freely because we all have families to cater for and feed.
Comrade Kehinde Adeoye, Lagos State Chairman of Committee for Defense of Human Right
The Lagos State Chairman of Committee for Defense of Human Right, Comrade Kehinde Adeoye who was also on ground said, “CDHR took time to study the documents provided by the Ifiyabale tipper garage, A&B Young shall Grow Mechanic critically before throwing our weight behind them when we suspected foul play, it is disheartening to be threatening and harassing citizens that has spent over 45 years in a particular location doing business and paying what is requested of them to the right authorities with valid receipts to show for it, though we have submitted our petition and have an impromptu meeting with representatives of Lagos State House of Assembly who promised to look into the issue. I also expected Lagos State Government to be checking the excess of Lagos Taskforce, we thank them for accepting our petitions while awaiting a quick response as a responsive government.
