Man Hit With Charms Dies In Ibadan ~By Oluwaseun

Pandemonium almost broke out yesterday at Agbon town, in the Iyana Church area of Ibadan, Oyo State when a traditional chief in the town, popularly known as Baale, was hit with what appeared to be amulets.

According to an eye witness, a Hausa/Fulani beggar who always positioned himself by the roadside nearby was said to have warned the baale, whose name was given as Bayo, not to allow debris from the floor get to him, but the old chief had asked him and others around there to move while he continued sweeping.

To the surprise of many, the beggar brought out from his pocket what looked like a charm and hit it on the bale who was still sweeping. Hell was let loose as the victim collapsed, and suddenly, one of the Hausa/Fulani men around there dipped his hand into the pocket of the beggar and brought out assorted charms.

There was chaos, and people fled the scene immediately. Motorcycle riders often called okada, who ply their trades around the vicinity and in front of the baale's house also deserted the location temporarily to avoid a reprisal attack from sympathisers.

As at the time of writing this, unconfirmed report said Bale Bayo gave up the ghost in the process.
