All road led to Afuze Mini stadia today in Estako, Edo State as Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe officially declared his intention to run for the forthcoming Gubernatorial election in Edo state. Party faithfuls from all the 18 Local Government of Edo State were on ground to witness the epic event.
With the large turn out witnessed today, other contestants need to go back to their drawing board. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe is widely accepted and loved by all and sundry. In fact, top party members who attended the flagged off are already tipping him to be the next Governor of Edo state. As the gubernatorial election in Edo State is fast approaching and political parties are gearing up for the polls, it is advisable for the All-Progressives Congress (APC) to pick Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe as its flagbearer and this is because he remains the only credible and reputable man that fits into the contest having served at the Federal levels.
His vast experience cannot be compared to other Aspirants because he knows his onions and his chances of winning the election for the APC is extremely high. His hoisting the flag of the APC and giving the party a deserved victory is of high probability and the assurance of the party making the good people of Edo State proud is certain. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe is a man of the people, the people’s general, an iconic giver, a committed servant of the people and a detribalized Nigerian who cherish humanity regardless of tribal, religious and political affiliations. His administration as governor of Edo State would welcome, with open hands, all men and women from the six geo-political zones of the country and give everyone the opportunity of living, working and investing in Edo State without any fear of insecurity, harassment or intimidation.
Dr Umakhihe started his service at the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR) as a young graduate before taking high-level positions in finance and accounting at the National Sports Commission; Ministries of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Defense and subsequently he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari to head the bureaucracy of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development where he retired yesterday January 4th, 2024
The diligent technocrat also served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Budget and National Planning; Common Services Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, and in the Ministry of Works and Housing.
Dr Umakhihe’s area of specialization is Administration and Management, and Security. He holds a PhD in Security and Strategic Studies and a Masters in Business Administration.
Having served in various ministries and government parastals, Dr Umakhihe with his expertise and experience ranging from Agriculture; to sports, Security, Finance, and so on. The good people of Edo will sure be thrusting the affairs of their state in the right hand.
Little wonder why Mr Lucky Ohiomai, a young entrepreneur in Edo State declared his full support to this course of taking Edo state and her people to another level by supporting the ambition of Dr Umakhihe. This declaration was made known during the Retirement Dinner organised in honour of the just retired permanent secretary and by the grace of the Almighty the potential Governorship flagbearer of the All Progressive Congress in the upcoming Edo poll.
Dr Ernest Umakhihe officially declared his intentions to occupy Osadebey Avenue come 2024. In his declaration slogan he said “ The reward for hard work is more work. Edo give me more work”. The ball is now with the APC leaders and also the electorates.
