enclave of Sat Guru Maharaj Ji a compound steeped in mystery, strict taboos, and intense local fascination. Born Mohammed Ajirobatan Ibrahim on December 20, 1947, the Nigerian spiritual leader declared himself the "Living Perfect Master" and is widely referred to by followers as the "Black Jesus."

Claiming absolute power over all human illnesses, misfortune, and worldly problems, Maharaj Ji has built a devoted movement over the decades. Yet, for most outsiders, his village remains an uncharted forbidden zone shrouded in rumors of rigid doctrines and otherworldly devotion.
