MYSTERIOUS! MAN FORCED TO MARRY PREGNANT DEAD LOVER WHO LOST HER BABY AT CHILDBERTH

Wonders, it is said, will never cease. A young, pretty, educated lady dying, along with her baby, during childbirth labour. Or could it be a sign of the end-times, when, the Good Book says, strange and calamitous happenings will begin manifesting at random? Whatever the case, this story indeed happened in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, and its bizarreness continues to set tongues wagging.
The lady, called Lizzy for short, was a student of English at the University of Ilorin whose parents reside in the Republic of Togo. She had completed her supposed final year exams and went home to give her parents the good news. When she returned to Ilorin with the intention of checking her final result and ascertaining which state she would be posted for her National Youth Service, however, she discovered that she had flunked some papers and would be required to re-sit them. This, she learnt, would require her spending another session.

It was a sad Lizzy that travelled to Togo to inform her parents of the news. But her parents encouraged her to brave out the extra year; telling her it was not the end of the world. And that, with hard work she would end up successful.
But on getting back to Ilorin, Lizzy decided to live, not on campus, but with a boyfriend, a civil servant and part-time student of Uniliorin living at the Tanke axis of the state capital, coming to school from there. Soon, she got pregnant with her boyfriend’s child. But rather than informing her parents about the pregnancy, she kept the news to herself. Even her sister who was resident in Ilorin, though a little distance away from where Lizzy was staying with her lover, was not informed about her condition.
As it happened, when time came for Lizzy to deliver the child, she developed some complication and needed to be rushed to a private hospital nearby. After several hours of unsuccessful labour, the doctor at the private hospital summoned Lizzy’s boyfriend and told him to transfer her to the General Hospital at Taiwo Oke, Ilorin. But Lizzy’s condition did not improve, and after a few days of labour,  she was prepared for Caesarean Section surgery at the hospital’s theatre. Alas! Lizzie was not destined to survive the operation. Both Lizzie and the baby died.
Not very surprisingly, when news of the calamity got to Lizzy’s elder sister, she was distraught and pounced on the young man who impregnated her younger sister, accusing him of wilfully killing Lizzy. After dragging him to Togo to perform traditional marriage rites with the deceased Lizzie, she handed the hapless lad over to the police in Ilorin, accusing him of human trafficking and murder.
The boyfriend is currently standing trial for alleged murder before a Federal High Court in Ilorin.
While the case is still pending in the court, it would be improper to comment on it. But be rest assured, Beth News will bring to you the next phase of the odd matter as it develops
